Volume 65 Number 14 Date 08/06/2020 POTATO LEAFHOPPER - Alfalfa surveys in western Wisconsin indicate pressure is moderate, although high counts were recorded at a few sites. The average this week was 1.7 adults and nymphs per sweep, with economic counts of two or more leafhoppers found in about 5% of sampled fields. PEA APHID - Populations of this forage pest remain low. Most fields surveyed from July 30-August 5 had fewer than 1.5 per sweep, or 150 per 100 sweeps. PLANT BUG - Counts varied from 0.4-2.2 plant bugs per sweep, with an average of 0.9 per sweep. Numbers in alfalfa have not reached the 5.0 per sweep economic threshold at any time this season in any field visited by DATCP surveyors. -- Krista Hamilton, DATCP Entomologist |
